Sheffield Eagles Scholarship put in an excellent performance to defeat North East Scholarship yesterday (Sunday 21^st April) at Darlington RLFC by 50-14.

The Eagles lead 24-14 at the break but scored 26 unanswered points in the second half to run away with the victory.

Eagles Number 5, Mac Watkinson crossed the whitewash for four tries whilst Luke Pogson, Jake Beach and Lewis Hoysty all went over for a try each.

Prop Ben Doxey scored two tries with Billy Clewley (5) and Jared Roach (2), sharing seven conversions between them.

Meanwhile, Aston praised the Under-16s team who gained their first win in the two seasons since joining the Scholarship competition.

The team, including Aston’s son, Cory, won 26-20 at Harlequins.

He said: “I’m delighted because for some of those guys it’s been a long two years trying to get that first win.”

The U-16s tries came from Jordan King, Jamie Needham, Jack Mitchell, Kieron Cross and Zach Braham with three goals being kicked by Josh Rymell.
